Aston Rowant Cricket Club Recruitment Policy Aston Rowant cricket club is implementing the ECB policy 'Safe Hands- Welfare of young people in cricket', which is available on www.ecb.co.uk/child-welfare/safe-hands. As a village club we do not undertake recruitment formally with the use of detailed job descriptions and application forms. However the club will take every care in recruiting appropriate people to work with young people. Prospective candidates will be interviewed informally to ensure that they have suitable qualifications and experience and that they understand the welfare of young people policies. Their role will be carefully explained to them and they may be asked to sign the ECB/Club code of conduct form. Qualified coaches will be asked to submit a check to the Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) to determine their suitability for working with young people (under eighteen years old). In the case of an overseas player intending to coach he must obtain an appropriate clearance certificate from his home country. An 'Overseas Coach Clearance Form' will then be submitted by the club to the relevant authority. In addition, team managers, umpires and scorers will be asked to undertake a CRB check. Occasional volunteers, ground staff and others who have regular contact with young people will be asked to complete a self -declaration form. In the case of a CRB check highlighting a problem the club will not allow that person to work with the children. In addition the club has the right to refuse help from a volunteer who declines to take a CRB check or complete a self- declaration form. |
