Child Protection Policy The club believes that all children who come to them for coaching or to play cricket have fundamental right to feel safe and protected from any forms of abuse. Therefore the club is implementing the ECB policy 'Safe hands' the welfare of young people in cricket, which is available on www.ecb.co.uk/ecb/grassroots/welfare The club will make sure that all coaches and volunteers will be carefully recruited and suitably qualified. They will also check with the Criminal Record Bureau as to their suitability for working with children. Coaches, scorers etc will be expected to treat every child with respect and not discriminate on any grounds. They will also place wellbeing and safety above performance and work to a code of conduct. The club has a defined policy on accident reporting, transportation of children and the use of photography and parents are welcome to ask any coach for the policy if concerned. The club has appointed two Welfare Officers, Diane Eaton and Debbie Maunders who should be the first point of contact for any problems. Young people should be encouraged to talk about their cricket experiences and their club to parents to ensure that they know how to voice their concerns if they are not happy with a situation. All suspicions and allegations will always be taken seriously and the matter will be dealt with swiftly and appropriately. All information will be kept confidential but coaches etc who have any suspicions of child abuse must report it to the welfare officers. The club recognises the responsibility of statutory agencies and the welfare officers may judge that referral to them is necessary. |
