Incidents / Accidents - Aston Rowant Cricket Club Fortunately accidents at cricket are rare and minor. However all Coaches / Managers should be aware of the procedures. You must always have access to a mobile phone or the landline phone inside the cellar/store in the clubhouse. You should always have a list of emergency numbers of parents and officials who can help you. Parents must be contacted wherever possible. You should also have a list of potential health problems your players have, to advise medical staff. Ensure you are never alone to cope with emergencies. There are two hospitals close by Stoke Mandeville or High Wycombe, Wycombe has the advantage of motorway access and should take 10mins. You are likely to be there for some hours in casualty. The most common injuries are: Nosebleeds Ball impacts Cuts Dislocated fingers Broken wrists (green fractures) players often try to continue. If their wrist is painful get it checked out as soon as possible In the case of head injuries do not let player go home alone, even if they say they are fine. Procedures for dealing with an incident / accident · Stay calm but act swiftly and observe the situation. Is there danger of further injuries? · Listen to what the injured person is saying. · Alert the first aider who should take appropriate action for minor injuries. The first aid cabinet is adjacent to the changing rooms. Ice cubes are in the chest freezer to reduce swelling. · In the event of an injury requiring specialist treatment, call the emergency services. · Deal with the rest of the group and ensure that they are adequately supervised. · Do not move someone with major injuries. Wait for the emergency medics. · Contact the injured person's parent/carer. · Complete an incident/accident report form, which must be signed by the parent or responsible person as soon as possible. . Non-Medical incidents If you encounter a problem like bullying, an upset child or something the parent should be aware of, complete an incident form, which should be countersigned by the parent as an acknowledgement. Completed forms should be returned to the Juniors' Secretary or any ARCC welfare officer. Child Abuse Discuss with another club official, ideally a welfare officer before taking any action.
